IDCWF was formed in 2017 by the husband and wife team of Dr. Anil Chopra and Dr. Parul Aneja when they decided to combine their shared expertise and passion for Infectious Diseases into their own practice. Together, they have created a company where everyone is treated with quality, excellence and compassion.
We provide care for the full spectrum of Infectious Diseases.
IDCWF provides care for the full spectrum of Infectious Diseases including in-hospital consultations in several local hospitals and long-term acute care hospitals (LTACH) throughout West Florida. We also provide outpatient consultations in Infectious Diseases, HIV, Hepatitis C, Travel Clinic, Infusion Services, and Wound Care in our two Tampa Bay offices. We are excited about the recent opening of our new facility in St. Petersburg as well as our original location in Tampa, Florida. Our team of board certified physicians have personal expectations to continue to practice to the highest standards in Infectious Diseases and grow even more to expand their services in the community and share their vision to offer the best care to their patients.

Dr. Anil Chopra MD
Subsequently he started his own private practice and has been working as an Infectious Disease physician in various clinical settings for the last 24 years.
He is board certified in Infectious Diseases.
He chairs the Infection Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship program at local hospitals and and actively participates in enhancing quality measures in the facilities he covers. He loves to train and teach future physicians.
He believes in taking excellent care of his patients and focuses on wholesome healing. His colleagues and patients have learned to expect a great fund of knowledge, excellent care and compassion from him.
He is an avid football fan, loves to travel and spend time with his wife, two children and two fur babies.
Dr. Parul Aneja MD
She enjoys training future physicians and is a faculty member at a local Internal Medicine Residency Program.
She chairs the Infection Control Program , Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee, Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee at several local hospitals.
Her passion for what she does and her love for her specialty is evident in all her endeavours and commitment to provide exceptional care to her patients.
She loves to spend time with her family including her husband, two children and two fur babies. She is an avid reader, enjoys cooking, dance and travel. The beach is her favorite place. She is a multi linguist, is learning more languages and also is fully trained in the Indian classical dance form, Bharatnatyam.
Dr. Melanie Malavé-Sánchez MD
Melanie Malavé Sánchez has worked as an Assistant Professor of the Division of Clinical Care and Research at the Institute of Human Virology and Infectious Diseases at the University of Maryland Medical Center. She obtained her Magna Cum Laude medical degree in 2014 from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine where she also graduated from her residency in Internal Medicine in 2017. She was Chief Resident of her Internal Medicine Program from 2017-2018 during hurricane Maria and co-authored “Adapt and Evolve: How our Internal Medicine Residency changed in Hurricane Maria” from her experience. She further subspecialized in Infectious Diseases at the University of Maryland. Her research interests include HIV and aging, immunosenescence, and health disparities among the minority population. She has published work such as Oral Polio Vaccine to Protect Against COVID-19: Out of the Box Strategies?” and “Pulmonary aspergillosis and cryptococcosis as a complication of COVID-19”. She has been involved in medical education since 2010 and has served as part of multiple medical committees including medical student council representative (2010-2014), member of the evaluation committee program (2016-2017), and clinical competence committee (2017-2018) of the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. She is fluent in Spanish and English, a fitness enthusiast, and enjoys playing video games in her spare time.
Dr. Gurchetan Randhawa MD
He completed his Internal Medicine residency with commendations for his contributions to research, patient care, leadership, education, and for his efforts during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic at Maimonides Health, in Brooklyn, NY.
He has moved to Tampa after completing his Infectious Diseases fellowship at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine and affiliated hospitals in NYC Including NYU Tisch, Kimmel, and Brooklyn, the nation’s oldest public hospital at NYC Health+Hospitals/Bellevue, Manhattan VA and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
He is a collaborator in a study published in The New England Journal of Medicine studying the antibody response to Mpox immunization. He is one of the first researchers in the world to publish a study on the relationship between diabetes and obesity and the outcomes of COVID-19 patients and published his findings in BMJ Open as a first author.
He is a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America.
Dr. Randhawa joined IDCWF as a new graduate in 2024. He is passionate about Infectious diseases, providing excellent care to his patients, and teaching the next generation of physicians. He teaches residents in a local Internal Medicine Residency Program. He is eager to bring his experience and skills to serve the entire Tampa Bay region of Florida.
Dr. Jessica Kennedy MD
After graduation in 2019, Dr. Kennedy completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Hofstra University/Northwell at Northshore/LIJ Hospitals in Long Island, NY in 2022, and is board-certified in Internal Medicine. She completed her Infectious Disease Fellowship in 2024 at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine.
Dr. Kennedy enjoys ID cases that focus on longitudinal care for long-term and lifelong infectious diseases, and is excited to bring evidence-based care and compassion to West Florida, where she was born and raised. In her spare time, Dr. Kennedy enjoys chatting with her sisters and nephew, spending time with her pets, and enjoying a good meal or video game with friends.
Laura Mesa APRN
Throughout her career, she been dedicated to providing compassionate and evidence-based care, especially in complex cases related to Infectious Diseases. Laura is fluent in English and Spanish.
Outside her professional life, she enjoys traveling with my family, exploring new cultures and creating cherished experiences.
Her passion for both healthcare and adventure make her a well-rounded professional who brings a personal touch to patient care.
